Before he created Mickey Mouse, Walt Disney drew cartoons of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit for Universal Pictures and Charles Mintz. This was the first of these films which was released to theaters.
Other animators who were involved included Ub Iwerks, Hugh Harman, Friz Freleng, Les Clark, Ben Clopton, Norm Blackburn and Rollin "Ham" Hamilton.
Note that the original film was silent. The soundtrack was added when it was rereleased a few years later.

  • After watching this, Oswald is now one of my most favroite cartoon character's.

  • why did he duck when it was going into the tunnel?

  • super trippy

  • i thought this was a silent cartoon

  • Oswald is amazing. Waaaay better than Mickey Mouse!

  • i love this episode for 3 reasons, first this is a historic cartoon but unrecognized by history. second, this was Disneys truely FIRST not steamboat willie, people think that was his first but it was NOT! anyway steamboat willie was just mikey mouses first. finally this lead to the Disney cartoon that STARTED Disney.

  • punch the fat guy out of a running train.. we don't have this kind of violence anymore... this never gets old

  • this was done the year my house was built!!!!!!

  • 1:20 sounds like Elmo's song :O

  • @bla1668 Charles Mintz. He stole Oswald from Walt Disney behind his back and all of his workers, expect for Ub Iwerks. That was very low of Mintz. But Universal founder, Carl Laemmle found out what Mintz did to Disney and he didn't like it at all. So, he fired Mintz and took Oswald out of hands.
