Here's my first video with my first Halo from Pantheon Steel in Missouri. This was a prototype attempt at creating a Hijaz 'flavored' scale. Due to some cross resonance between the bottom two notes, and a certain lack of connection between the center low note and the first note in the circle Pantheon has decided not to offer this exact model unless at some point in the future they can resolve some of the issues.
This has only one note difference between it and the Harmonic Minor (G as first note in the circle instead of F) and the Kiavara (a Bb instead of the Low F). They are going to focus on the production scales they currently offer for the near future. You can hear examples at:

It arrived at lunchtime and this is my first few hours of play with this new instrument. Please excuse my rudimentary attempts at 'playing around' the tone fields. I'm still working on connecting to this instrument, the overtones, and the overall resonance. The deep C tone is a very strong presence and is taking some getting used to. Very different in feel and sound from a PANArt Hang from Bern Switzerland.
***Update***
Now that Pantheon Steel is officially offering a model called a Hijaz, I wanted to be clear that this Halo is a prototype with a totally different tuning, both from a starting note perspective and also from an interval perspective. This one is a C based Hijaz scale, so it's sort of 'split in half' interval wise with the low note (G) being just above the 'middle' of the interval set. The notes are:
C - G,Ab, Bb, C,Db, E,F G
Love this tuning! I was comparing your recording to that of the Hijaz that Pantheon is finally offering, do you know what 8 notes your tuning is? I kinda think yours sounds closer to the Kiavara than to the new Hijaz, which is (B) F# G A# B C# D E F#

@dmjordan - My tuning was a very early experimental attempt at capturing the Hijaz flavor. You could think of it as a split Hijaz that starts on C. The notes are:
C - G,G#, Bb, C,C#, E,F, G

Fun, but challenging! I'm still getting used to the voice the Halo has, and this configuration of the Hijaz is a different flavor as it's not the intervals I had expected (since I'm new to music theory and scales).
My research put the PANArt Hijaz into the Harmonic Minor category in A (the Ding). This is that same scale but in G (the first note in the circle) so the 'flavor' is different moving up and down the circle.

Am I crazy or are some of the tonal resonances making the camera go out of focus for a moment? Beautiful HALO. I guess I have quite a while to wait as I am somewhere around 65. Great post - Thanks for showing what it can do.

I'm not sure what happened at the start there. But yeah, the camera had trouble focusing .
