SecurShred, not only destroys the hard drives inside of computers, but also recycles computer equipment such as: -- CPU's -- Monitors -- Keyboards -- Mice -- Printers -- Fax Machines

Most states have laws against the landfilling of computer equipment by residents and businesses. Landfilling this equipment is not only illegal, but is harmfull to the environment.

Extending NAID Certification to Other Media

SecurShred has been certified for hard drive destruction by the National Association of Information Destruction (NAID). The annual certification confirms that SecurShred has the appropriate policies and procedures in place for the handling and destruction of hard drives.

SecurShred operates a mobile hard drive crushing machine. The "HD Hammer" crushes the memory platters of each hard drive so that the information can not be read. This operation takes place either at the customer's location or at SecurShred's secure warehouse facility.

The serial numbers of each hard drive are recorded and a certificate of destruction is completed. The crushed hard drives are then taken away for recycling.

The processes of degausing and overwriting hard drives have been proven to be not totally effective. The only sure way to destroy confidential information on hard drives is to crush the memory platters so that they can not be read.

The Director of Customer Service, Mark "Padre" Trombley shows us this action at it's best.

  • Cost of this machine is over 10K

  • How much is it?

  • @MrLeonard55

    Local Hard Drive destruuction ~$10

  • Why not just run DBAN then give the working pc's with the harddrive to Salvation Army or something like that?

  • @HybridPineapple The safest way is physical destruction. HD's are easy to buy now to replace with low cost.

  • @trashtalker226 As i said 5 months ago they are not cheap and hybrids idea is the best one here

  • Meh, more fun to do it yourself

  • @trashtalker226 No, it isn't and thy are not cheap

  • @hitachi088 Takes way too long, too much bother and the effectiveness of overwriting with zeros is debated. Physical destruction = guaranteed and quick.

  • @trashtalker226 Because people wouldn't pay you to do that I'm sure. Pardon my cynicism but I'm sure tat' a part of it.

  • I mean how much is the machine?
