The Tamil Tigers are one of the world's most ruthless and violent nationalist organizations. Thirty-two countries, including the U.S., have branded the Tigers a terrorist group.
Founded three decades ago in Sri Lanka, the Tigers have indiscriminately attacked civilians in order to create a separate Tamil state in parts of Sri Lanka, formerly known as Ceylon.
Known formally as the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, the group pioneered the use of suicide bombers, called the Black Tigers. Female suicide bombers were employed in the assassination of former Indian President Rajiv Gandhi and in an attempt on the life of Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaranatunga.
Experts have linked them to other terrorist organizations and note the similarity between the Tigers' attack on Sri Lanka Navy ships and the Al Qaeda attack on the U.S. destroyer Cole that killed 17 American sailors.
Their sources of worldwide funding, in addition to credit card fraud, include sea piracy, human smuggling and drug trafficking, the experts say.

SL state TERRORISM has killed more Tamil civilian than the Tigers have killed Sinhalese. Past three months alone 20,000 Tamil civilians, mostly babies and women, have been killed. SL is no democracy, its run as a totalitarian state by the Rajapaksa brothers backed by the army. There is a systematic genocide of the Tamil people by the Paksa brothers and the SL military. Its time for the Tamils of the world to untie and support the next leader who will take up arms to protect the Tamils.

i live in srilanka i know the fragrance of srilankan soil, i am just lived about 20 miles away from war, i know the trails in the wood, i know the people in neighborhood and they know me too, i know how not only tamils but the people live in LTTE controlled area had suffered and died because of their LTTE harassment. i know the humanitarian lies in this vedio may be money. however war has ended. There is more to this than meets the eye. Australian diplomats were expelled from Sri Lanka today. I know nothing of this conflict but I'm going to find out. Is the govt. of Sri Lanka an oppressive regime? Or are the Tamils in the wrong?

I have always been an advocate of fair and compassionate treatment of Sri Lankan refugees, but I am going to be cautious after today's diplomatic dramas. I know not to believe media accounts of

Listen I have sympathy for the sanghala side of your country but i also feel sympathy for the tamil side its all human life. As an indian i must say what your people are doing is just wrong and cruel you cant support a government who kills civilians while going after terrorists. Kill those terrorists yes but not the children and people who have nothing to do with it. The whole world views sanghala as a reincarnation of the unjustices for humanity in the past.
