This electric hoist was initially designed and welded home made to lift an electric powered wheel chair, since they where sold for more than $3,500 dollars, I decided to design it in Autocad and tell the welder specifically how to weld it, it cost me less than $300 dollars including parts and labor.
I over designed it exceeding the 165 lb intended weight load, just in case I then decided to lift something else, like for example this heavy tree branch.
It is bolted in 3 places through the body floor of the Cherokee using metal plates underneath to distribute the load over the floors sheet metal. Also it is triangulated to minimize metal deformation. Until this date, it has lifted everything I've tried.
you can buy one of those at harbor freight for like 180 dollars
