I had a yellow 10 speed varsity in the early 80's and 2 years ago i picked up a orange 1973 varsity like the one on the video.Execellent bikes, they make shit today shipped in from china so people should preserve our old american made bikes. That goe's for many other things too.I did buy another bike recently,1971 schwinn suburban 5 speed, $20 bucks can't go wrong .
Where the hell was I when this happened!!! (Probably still waiting on my Bozo Circus tickets so I could win that Sting Ray on the Grand Prize Game!!! lol
Thanks for posting this--fun ad and nice of Coke to promote cycling and Schwinn by giving away 5,000 bikes back in the day. I was 14 in '74 and don't recall this contest, but then again, I wasn't watching much television because I was one of those California kids riding my Sting-Ray all the time--great memories.
Wow, back then they ACTUALLY made the Coca-Cola logo out of bikes! Nowadays that would've been done by CGI to save time & money.
