Wasn't there some fans hurt from debris?
...I was at a track in Maine back in the 70's and a wheel flew over the fence and narrowly missed spectators...it was pretty scary until we found out everyone was alright.

They mandated a neck brace after Dales wreck ,, It keeps the head from thrashing about in a wreck ,,Remember their head has the added weight of a helmet and radio gear nowadays ,Dales neck was broken .
