Multimodal interfaces are traditionally designed to optimally
orchestrate the deployment of our sensory modalities in interaction.
However, in mobile HCI it is equally important to ask how freely users can allocate senses away to other things without compromising performance.
In our talk at CHI 2010, we'll present the notion of multimodal flexibility and tell you about surprising results from a study where we compared 3 commonly used mobile interfaces.
