Seems the first priority for getting warm is finding cover. After that, you can collect fuel into your area of cover. Seemed like you were prepping your fuel out in the rain. Why do that?

Man ! ... I have watched SO many survival vids, on fire-starting and every other "essential procedure" by all "the usual suspects (gurus) ...
... I just gotta say that I LOVE your no-BS un-foofy approach to this subject matter !
.. I love that you use just a pocket folder and a steel ... love that you did it in a sustained rain environment .. love that you dint use cotton-balls or wetfire or any other prepped gimmick ... just pocket EDC. No bird;s-nest, no popsicle-sticks or char cloth ! YAY!

It has been raining heavy around my way. After work on Friday I went out in the woods during a heavy rain for the purpose of starting a fire. Used my BK2 and got into the dry wood. I did not have a tarp but tried to get shelter by huddling up next to some big trees. The end result was made some feather sticks go a small flame, but no sustainable fire. I'll need to bring a poncho / tarp next time. Great video, Thanks, wtr7
how do you keep the fire from going out??

@thekickingwolf Lots and lots of wood. Once the fire is going, you have to pile the fuel on. The wet wood will be dried out by the flames and coals below it. A large amount of wood on the fire also protects the coal bed.

i really like your process except for your striking. i know the knife and that it doesnt have a real lock and you probably can't do it any other way, but i just hate having watched you strike it with the edge.
