1) you can't play this song clean - it'll sound like utter shit. get some distortion, man!

2) don't pick so heavy

3) when you're strumming the chords, put the closer together. the distortion will help with this too. notice in the real song that it sounds almost like a single strum.

4) play the whole damn song, not just the main riff

5) if you want to stop sucking ass, follow steps 1-3, and preferably 4 also.
