2007 marked the 20th anniversary of Radio New York International. On the eve of The Radioship Sarah's historic trip to the coast off Long Island, Hank Hayes and Pete Sayek give a brief video tour of the ship and the studios. A large boat called The Munzer towed The Sarah as it had no working engines. On board this day was a who's-who of the New York and New England pirate radio scene. We pulled out of Boston harbor the next morning and set sail for New York - and radio history. (see more at www.rfny.us)

  • Could you tell me what has happen to sarah since it was put to dock?

  • Believe it or not, they tried a couple more times to put RNI on the air with no success. The ship was eventually sold to the people tah made the fil "Blow Up" so it could be...blown up!

  • it been alon time but it funny to watch the video of the people here.

I was 17 at the time and worked on the tug boad that ankered then off shure.

crazy bunch, But they where within there right, they where 4 miles off sure. at the time internationan waters was 3 miles. I think they have not changed it to 20. LOL

Warner have tryed this with another boat as well with no sucsess.

  • I miss those days of pirate radio stations in ENGLISH like RNI, but also WROG Russ Rogers on 91.9 and WOCN 91.9. The FCC has to shut you guys down but does nothing to shut down these pirates all over the place coming mostly from the city in other languages. The dial is loaded with Hatian and Spanish pirates but the FCC doesn't shut 'em down. At least what you guys did was interesting, unlike these pirates these days. One could argue, you served the general public, which these guys dont.

  • Dam !! the fcc they think they own everything maybe you should of registerd the boat with Iran then Iran would of said do not board sarah or it would be consider an act of war then there back would be against the wall lol :)
