Why would you join the military ?

@toprankingsound The short answer is if you have to ask, you'll never get it. The long winded answer is that I'm built to be a public servant, and fire and police departments are cutting back. I've tried working in the private sector, I'm simply not greedy enough to thrive in a capitalist system. I also feel the most fulfilled when I'm a gear in a larger machine, I'm at my best when people depend on me, I don't do anything for my own personal gain.

I actually enjoyed basic. Just keep in mind that yelling is all the drill sergeants can do. Oh also given that you're over 21 you should be able to get your 5 ton drivers license, be sure to do so because you get to drive supplies out to the range rather than marching, or running.

Oh where are you going for basic anyway, and what Mos? I went to Ft. Jackson S.C., and was 34y Field artillery computer repair, this was back when the equivalent of a hand held calculator filled a tractor trailer. :p

@TheNakedAtheist Fort Benning for basic then off to Fort Gordon for my 25L Cable Systems Installer/Maintainer training (or cable dawg).

agreed. i haven't spent much time on the atheist thing either, and haven't made any videos pertaining to it. ...maybe i've said what i need to say?

i should have seen this earlier, but i don't spend much time on youtube at all lately.

anyway, make a video to tell us how it's going (of course, i'll check now and probably find one that you've recently made.

Kalin666, my only subscription, 10 minutes with you is a treat. Good Luck on the Military. I suspect you will be taking orders from someone not as intelligent as you and for me that sucks. The Socialist Army Of America's as fine a faith as any, & I applaud your enlistment (seriously). You've said your piece on atheism, but you haven't said why weak atheists aren't dishonest even though undecided on god, nor how a generalized god concept is religion-as-opposed-to-philoso­phy & yet not god. It might be soldierly to concede these points & thus make peace with agnostics before shipping out.
