Moose - Thanks for your note. The G-pod's claim to fame is that it can attach/grip to unique objects. We feel The Smart Pod outperforms the G-pod in this respect. The Smart Pod attaches faster and is more secure. Also, regarding a floor shot, there is likely a nearby object, such as a chair, folding chair, bike, etc., that can be moved into the desired position. The Smart Pod Mini is compact and is priced at $39. Thanks again for your comment.
Smartpod, The Gorillapod doesn't need something to latch onto. You can put it on the ground, or a surface that doesn't have half-inch ledges to hook onto.
The regular Gorillapod, which is for point-and-shoot cameras, is $22. He was using the Gorillapod SLR in the video, with a not-so-SLR camera hooked up to it.
Check out thesmartpod channel to see the most versatile camera and video mount accessory on the market. The smart pod will attach just about anywhere and will hold any camera position. It is also much more secure than the Gorilla pod. PLEASE CHECK IT OUT. THANKS.
I got one for free from Best Buy for buying a new camera. I haven't gotten it yet but it seems like a nice invention :D

I got mine about 3 weeks ago, and I just love it.
With a bit of tweaking, you can shoot from door frames, door handles, street lights, street signs, trees, etc.
