The Kills was just a garage rock duo by Alison VV Mosshart (vocals) and Jamie Hotel Hince (guitar) that started in 2000. Mosshart was part of a punk band based in Floride while Hince was a member of a rock band, Scarfo, in Britain. When both bands broke up the two decided to hook up. They got acquianted in a hotel when Hince was playing and Mosshart hear it from her room. The two just worked through air mail, sending tapes back and forth. Mosshart later on moved to London. The named themselves VV and Hotel. In 2001, they sent out demos to major labels. They signed in with Domino Records and released their debut album, the Black Rooster, followed by their debut in US under Dim Mak Records. The duo went on tour to promote their album. In 2005, they issued their follow-up album, No Wow. It was more in the punk influence. The single "The Good Ones" went in th UK Charts at #23. VV was featured on Brian Molko's "Meds".

I saw them live at The Bottleneck in Lawrence, KS some time after this and they were laughing about how miserable they were on this day! Alison told me they've got it in their contract now that they can't play before 8pm!
