This Forum now available at www.theforumchannel.tv Thomas Friedman and Malcom Gladwell discuss what the focus of our country should be in the future. For more information, please visit our websit at www.ctforum.org
I'm totally on the Malcolm bandwagon, and I know he is a writer ahead of a public speaker. But the other two are tragic when it comes to the "um, um ummm" as well as several other's I've seen interviewing him. Where are the articulate speakers???
I'm concerned with content as well as with new ways of looking at things. Cliches are very unpleasant to listen to and I think reflect on a person's inability to see things in a new way or to think creatively. Recycling is also an important activity, by I wouldn't be impressed by a fully grown man parroting advertisment-like jingles and pop-culture drivel.
Thanks for the caps. I DON'T THINK I'D UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU WERE SAYING, OTHERWISE. Go back and read my comment. My point was that the speech was a bunch of hackneyed phrases and tired expressions used by every other journalist and media outlet to convey a point that's made over and over and over. There's nothing new or insightful about this speech or it's contents. That was my point which you apparently missed. It wasn't that I thought the message was incorrect.
Pretty good post...

"green is the new red, white & blue" followed by a gulp from a big ole plastic cup. "green" is about more than emissions...

It makes me sick to hear Friedman speak. I wish Sideshow Bob had more to say in this one.

So your issue is style, not substance?
Figures. YOU SEEM TO WORRY A LOT ABOUT STYLE. But the substance is WHAT REALLY MATTERS.
If what he is saying is true, as far as I am concerned, he could say it in a Boston accent with marbles in his mouth.
Its the truth of it THAT MATTERS.

Let me break it down for you, since you dont seem to get what he is saying.
Oil is running out. Renewable energy IS THE ONLY WAY TO AVOID GEO-POLITICAL DISASTER.
Does that make sense? Because it better. It is COMPLETELY TRUE.
