how great to hear other people's perspectives. my first henna experience, my mother said, "you look like a burn victim." thanks mom. lol. but it must be true, because people seem to ignore it, never look at it or ask what it is. i guess i'll have to try louder designs!
All the different perspectives were so interesting. I really like this video. <3 I wish I had been there.
I never had any negative reactions, but I also only began doing and wearing henna in the late ninties/early 2000. I can kind of relate to Kim. Although I haven't had people be apprehensive about henna, other cultural arts I've had trouble with. It's like people don't think you're doing "authentic" "real" art if you weren't born in that culture.
