Yes 720 can really be called HD.

Ultimateracepro I use the HF 100, and I often take frame grabs for my family pictures. When I shoot in 60i, I can pan quicker without distorting the picture too much, however the individual frame grabs appear choppy. In 30p, the picture starts to distort/lag during fast pans, but frame grams are better. I really think that 60P would solve this problem and give superior picture. I am not a camcorder expert but I think that 60P is the future and would be advantageous over 60i. Just me 2c's

Hello Limpcats. The JVC Everio GZ-HD6 and GZ-HD5 does NOT RECORD in 1080 60p. Yes, GZ-HD6 can OUTPUT a 1080 60p signal, but I don´t see the ideer. Do you? If you wan´t a good consumer camara to use in normaldaylight buy a canon like HV40 or Canon Legria HF S10. I have a HV20 and the picturequality is generally than better when I watch TV.

ecking: "Higher frame rates, such as 1080p50 and 1080p60, are foreseen as the future broadcasting standard. The new JVC GZ-HD6 and GZ-HD5 Everio shoot in 1080 60p. Also Sanyo has 108060p see VPC-FH1BK/ VPC-FH1 (horizontal)/VPC-HD2000 (vertical)
Both these cameras now support 1080/60p at 24mbps (max) AVC/H.264 .mp4 files.

1080p60 is not a broadcast standard pretty much nothing shoots that in a legitimate codec.

I forgot to say thanks :)
Thanks for the clip. A lot of us were very eager to see this posted. Do you have a link to the raw file.
It looks like the only thing missing from this camcorder is the 1080 60p.

i uploaded only 10 seconds from this video because of tremendous file size.
ProRess 422 codec, 1920x1080. ( right before exporting to H.264 )
you may have to upgrade QuickTime Player newest to play this file.
if you are Mac user, you can access to the file from Finder menu.

hi. what i've done is
shooting by canon HF S10, choosing MXP (24Mbps) mode and 30p
capturing and transcoding AVCHD to Apple ProRes 422 by using Final Cut Pro
after editing, using Compressor, choosing custom setting
file format: QuickTime movie
extension: m4v
video compression setting: H.264, maximum data rate is 10240kbps
frame size: 1280x720
i think you can do the same by QuickTime Pro (much cheaper) instead of Final Cut suite.
