Bless your heart, I totally understand everything you are saying. Sometimes I listen because they need just an ear. But a lot of times it's easy for me to just say, "okay, well you have a great day" and book it!

Yup, it happens to me too. Today as a matter of fact. Elderly man tells me, "I've lost my wife and my car!" I replied, "well that certainly is not a good thing" and avoided eye contact. But he continued on.Thankfully it was a short elevator ride

I think it is because you seem like a caring person in this uncaring world.
