What bullshit are u talking about. Are you going to say that even the Ottoman Empire wasnt Turkish? Just because we havent written in Turkish doesnt mean were not Turkish. This Azerbaijani Turkish dialect is spoken in iraq & syria by the Turkmens, in georgia by the Azerbaijani Turks & Ahiska Turks, also in the Eastern part of Turkey...

You know the linguistic Turkification of Azerbaijan only really started when the Safavids took power in Iran (16th and 17th century). The linguistic Turkification of Azerbaijan really took place alongside their religious conversion to Shi'a Islam. Tabriz was the city that took the longest time to become fully Turkic-speaking, because there were MANY districts which were still Persian-speaking well into Qajar era, unlike most other Azerbaijani cities who were fully Turkic-speaking by Qajar era.

It's not called an ethnic group, wiseass. It's called a linguistic group. A black person in Sudan and a white person from Palestine who are both considered Arabs, are not ethnically the same. Similarly a white/brown person in Azerbaijan and a yellow person in Kazakhstan are not ethnically the same - it's just they speak a language that is in the same linguistic group.

Well there is no such ethnic group called the Azeri. Our ethnic group is TURK. The east of Turkiye, Turkmens in Iraq & Syria, Turks in Georgia all speak the same Turkish dialect that the Azerbaijani Turks in South Azerbaijan speak. All the 27 arab countries speak arabic,iraq doesnt speak iraqic or lebanon doesnt speak lebonic.& the TURKS speak TURKIC...Theres 2 branches OGHUZ & KIPCHAK...

Turkey destroyed Kurds and their culture.  It used to be ilegal to even utter a word in Kurdish. You can't compare Iran and Turkey, Turkey is by far a worse and much more racist place.

In Iran if we are able to learn our other languages, I think the people would be happy.

If you are from Turkey, then you will know that Azeri and Turkish is still quite different. We have lots of different words, our own dialect, our own sounds and some of our grammar is different. An Iranian Azeri has to learn Turkey's Turkish first, and it's usually easy because of the similarities. But a Turkish person that comes here, at first they barely understand, we have to speak slow and change our words.

Tabriz has a lot of Kurds too, and also some armenians. Urumiye has a large kurdish population. Zanjan is an azeri city, they're all azeri. The vast majority of Iranian azeri's consider themselves Iranian, and the vast majority also consider persian as part of their culture. They consider themselves turkic but also Iranian.

Pan-Turkism will do to Turkic brotherhood what Pan-Arabism did to Arab countries.North Africa, Egyptians, Lebenese, Iraqis, etc after 100 yrs of formation of Pan-Arabism now HATE to be called Arabs.

It kind of amazes me when a person from Turkey or Azerbaijan talks about Turan when the rest of Turkic countries don't even consider them proper Turks.Azerbaijan & Turkey should push for European agenda. Turkish & Azeris are closer to Europeans than to their liguistic brothers of Central Asia.

In citry where I live(Toronto,Canada)I met some Uzbeks and Turkemens.I got to talk to them about Azeris and Turkish. Their general attitude toward Turkish& Azeris is mockery. They don't consider Turkish and Azeris proper Turks because they don't look like a proper Turk(AKA they are caucasian). I don't know if they are all like that.They also dispise the fact that Turkish say Changiz Khan was caucasian.
