Selena: how is she? (holds nicks hand)
DD: im afraid shes critical
Selena: what do you mean? (on the verge of tears again)
Nick: (hugs her) whats is it doc?
DD: shes got blood poisoning it seems shes had it for a couple of days now.did she faint or feel light headed? Any stomach aches?
Selena: y-yes but she shook it off
DD: I guess not the only thing you can do is pray for her
Selena: can we see her?
DD: im afraid not she isnt stanble yet and she keeps calling out someones name.....Joe I think
Selena: yh thats her boyfriend
DD: great maybe you can call him he can help calm her down
Nick: no the thing is—(breaks off)
Kevin: (continues) hes in surgery right now
DD: oh im sorry but you keep strong.i know shes not gonna give up shes a fighter dont worry
Nurse: (runs out of the room and calls the doctor) DOCTOR! DOCTOR!
DD: (looks at her) whats wrong
Nurse: the pateint....were losing her
DD: (shocked) OH GOD (runs in with the nurse)
Selena: (cries into nicks arms) whats happening? W-why is it happening to her? Nick?
Nick: sshh it'll be alright I promise Sel
Nurse: (comes out) lovato?
Nick: thats us.....what was wrong with Demi
Nurse: shes in surgery.we will try our best but the chances are very unlikely (looks down)
Selena: what? NO NICK THIS CANT BE HAPPENING
Nick: ssh Sel (hugs her tighter)
Nurse: I think its best in you leave and we will call you if there is any more news (walks back into the room)
Nick: come on Sel lets go home (pulls her with him)
Selena: (pushes him) NO IM NOT LEAVING HER HERE ALONE NICK
Nick: I know Sel....I dont want to either but you heard the nurse.
Kevin: what about Joe?
Nick: he went into surgery im sure they will call if something came up
Selena: (sits down and puts her face in her hands) why did this happen?
Nick: (sits next to her and takes her hands) I dont know Sel but I promise we will find out who did this and why okay
Selena: (nods looking down)
Nick: (picks up her chin and kisses her softly) now lets get back okay
Selena: (nods and walks with nick and the others)

*A few days later*

nick: (sitting eating lunch with the gang, nobody talked much after what had happened and were waiting for the phone call) guys?
gang looks at him
Nick: why havent they called about Demi or Joe?
Selena: I dont know
Nick: im getting worried---(cell rings and he picks up) hello?
Joes Doctor (JD): we have great news
Nick: (smiles) really! What is it?
JD: (laughs) the surgery was successful, Joe is out of danger
Nick: (stands up) OMG thats awesome. can we see him
JD: yh you can come now but hes sleeping
Nick: were on our way (motions for the gang to get up and follow him)
Gang follow him out of the school
JD: well see you there (hangs up)
Nick: (puts his cell away and smiles really big)
Selena: (confused) whats up nick?
Nick: (picks selena up and spins her around) JOE IS ALIVE SELENA! HES OUT OF DANGER
Selena: (smiles) im so happylets go
Kevin: (gets in the car) so danger is outta danger (laughs)
Vanessa: yes now drive woman
Nick: wait wheres Zac?
Zac: (runs up) right here sorry had to tell the coach im going to the hospital
Kevin: okay lets go! (starts to drive to the hospital)

*with Joes Doctor and Joe*

Joe: (sleeping)
Joes Doctor: (sigh of relief) thank god hes alive.this was one hell of a surgery (walks over to Joe and resets the wires) there all good (walks out)

*with the gang*

nick: (runs in towards Joes room when he sees the doctor) doc?
JD: great you made it
Selena: (sarcastic) thanks for waiting nick
Nick: (smiles and takes her hand) can we see him now
JD: yes but be quiet cuz he needs his sleep okay?
Nick: (nods) great
Selena: lets wait for the others since you didnt wait before
Nick: sorry I was too excited that Joes alive (smiles)
Selena: (looks at him) what about Demi?....how is she
Nick: (stops smiling) i-I dont know lets ask
Everybody joins them
Nick: guys Sel and I are gonna ask about Demi okay?
Ashley: well come with you
Nick: (nods and asks Demis Doctor) how is Demi doing?
Demis Doctor (DD) well
Selena: (grips onto nicks hand preparing herself for the news)
DD: she isnt great..
Selena: what do you mean?
DD: (looks down) we tried are best but
Selena: but what (tears in her eyes)
DD: we dont think if shes gonna make it
Nick: w-what?
DD: it seems that the poison has run through the stomach and into her blood.shes been coughing up blood every 10 minutes which causes internal damage as well as more loss of blood.even if she does recover she may have amnesia because she banged her head on the side of her memory box..we did everything we could.im so sorry (walks out)
