  • @IneffableLifestyle Sigh, it's a matter of context. It's a matter of understanding the complexities of society rather than making insipid, myopic generalizations. It's why people like Michael Semple, Hugh Pope and others are actually considered experts and people like Hitchens are simply publicity artists.

  • @junaidnoorim Yeah, because they only speak arabic in the middle east, and a translater is unheard of.

  • @IneffableLifestyle With all due respect, millions of people have not only visited the Middle East, they have learned its language, and immersed themselves in their culture. Hitchens couldn't speak Arabic if his life depended on it.

  • @maqierify Then stop it..

  • @fjoo I b troolin nd hatin liking a typical bigoted imbecile.. yeah

  • @junaidnoorim yeah, hitchens is totally ignorant of middle east societies, he's only been there plenty of times, talked to the people, read alot about it, and made up his own independent mind. Sure.

  • @junaidnoorim I have no need to go to any moslem country since the entire moslem world seems to be coming to me.There are now 300 languages being spoken in some London schools. That's way to close for my comfort already. My point is simple.I agree with Hitchens contemptuous dismissal of Islam and it's followers. What I don't understand is why we are trying to save Kabul while we are losing London.

  • Trying to change societies because you are wholly ignorant of them is deep-rooted in the racist mentality of colonialists. Hitchens and Ali are just bizarre.

  • @jhassett2 Have you, by any chance, actually been to Afghanistan?

  • @fjoo Not a question of disliking Hitchens.Like everyone else from Gore Vidal to Tom Wolfe I find myself seduced by Hitch's intoxicating and intoxicated personality\image.Rory Stewart deals with the same complex set of variables but he does so consistently and I might add, without Hitchens flashes of temperament and ego.Perhaps this is the difference between celebrity pundit\ideological pimp on the one hand and thoughtful informed honourable analyst on the other.?And now I will leave it.
