Extremely underrated game, liked this on more than Panzer General. I was shocked even a little insulted by the Gamespot.com review namely the comments like: "Fantasy General seems aimed at a bizarre and very unlikely audience." and "Recommended only for die-hard wargamers who don't care about realism, and for those who want to listen to funeral home tunes for hours on end." IMO the person that reviewed that game is pretty narrow-minded, but hey everyone is entitled to their own opinion I guess.
Anyway enjoy!

  • I love this game and I have read that Gamespot review, as well. If it is aimed at a bizarre audience, then I am probably bizarre beyond help. ;)

  • I'ts very unbeliveable that this game has one of the best soundtracks, if you look at how old this game really is... Epic by its time on the computer for

  • @Holowachuk I have an old 133mhz from 1995 (or 96) for such games.. They are old favorites of mine..=)

  • @Hoggosor

fantasy general is freeware and it runs under xp. no problems, no dos box used.

  • @Holowachuk You could use dosbox

  • @tuebalt powerful stuff really. . .

  • I want to mention that the chorus line is part of "Dies irae", a latin hymn written by Thomas of Celano (13th century).

I think this is the chorus line:

    Quantus tremor est futurus,

    Quando iudex est venturus,

    Cuncta stricte discussurus!

Oh, what fear man's bosom rendeth,

when from heaven the Judge descendeth,

    on whose sentence all dependeth.

  • One of the best Game Soundtracks of ALL TIMES! :b

  • In Pelit-magazine this game got over 90 from 100 as a score. Gamespot reviewer was a fool who didn't understand the gem he was playing.

  • absolutely epic game, i've played it twice something like 4 or 5 years apart but never got to listen to the soundtrack. makes it that more worthwhile!

  • Hey, magnað! Ég hélt ég væri eini Íslendingurinn sem fílaði þetta sándtrakk. Hehe.

  • hehe... i tried to play it on a new computer with windows xp and unfortunately i could not make it run... but i was able to copy the music from the cd with my media player.

so if you got the cd you might copy it too.
