Like most everyone, I've had plenty of good times with Red Stripe, but I've noticed that you pay a fairly premium price for a pretty average beer. I was thinking of the Michelob comparison before you even said it. I'll pay less for a better Michelob offering over RS nearly all the time. Love the RS painted bottles though. Great reviews, btw.

Full Sail Brewery makes a better lager called Sessions. They recently came out with Sessions Black which is a very smooth dark lager. Also comes in the stubby bottle and only in 12pks. Lagers are boring but a black lager is the shit.
