Subject: Schillinger competition

Dear daniel

I'm delighted to tell you that we have decided to award you joint first prize and that your composition will be performed on the 20th May at the University of Hertfordshire. I particularly appreciated your rigorous score and the flowing sweetness of your music, structurally very solid but fluid and free sounding. It goes to show that Schillinger techniques can be used to produce whatever the composer intends. Your composition makes a nice contrast to the other winner, a composition by Stace Constantinu, who has written a more motoric and gritty score reminiscent of a minimalist style.

Thanks for all your hard work. We will record the concert and we will send you a CD in due course.

Best wishes and congratulations

Jeremy Arden

  • @LiviNthaBeaT Music IS the geometry of sound! (Sort of)

  • Why did I drop into lower-level math? If I had known I could do this with Geometry I probably would have applied myself more.

  • A very unique piece!

  • Very nice! Very fugueish. I'd like to hear a less contrapuntal piece as well. I'll check out more. In any case---very beautiful.

  • i never thought geometry could fit into the beautiful art of music

  • Bravo!

  • This is a very nice piece, I find this method rather interesting and would like to learn more about it.... maybe you could do a class on it! ;)

  • No this method is just formalistic, and it is Scientific and Mathematical. I like it. I know some things about it too and am learning more from Philip DiTullio. I have never really heard what can be done with computers and programs today. This man obviously has something to say and is saying it, with the help of these computer programs. The instruments sound natural and in the interplay between instruments is lined up well rhytmically. I wish they had invented these kinds of things when I first

  • you may as well get used to my comments on your site ! iam experiencing great joy listening to your compositions ! if you ever do a concert in british columbia canada , let me know ! all the best to you ! les copeland

  • Realmente hermoso!!!
