  • what is the longest u have ever camped alone

  • 3 nights in a row. that was it. And I saw people during the day, I wasn't alone. That is how it is out on the east coast. Most of my long hikes I went with people or guided trips.

  • whats it like do overnight hikes by urself?

  • it is peaceful but sometimes a moonless night can be spooky. Most of the time when I hike on the AT I meet up with others at lean-tos and don't often get to spend the night alone.

  • Great Job Russell. I like the real world gear testing. I think you did a great job. The one thing I would say on this video was that the lighting was pretty bad. Looking at a silhouette for most of the video was a little annoying. Keep making the vids though and I will keep watching them!

  • great little piece there!

  • What happened to your web site?

  • Nice vid Dude...I am willing to put poncho like this in to my gear... enjoy the outdoors... Take care

  • Reminded me of a time I went camping for a week in spring. I had a friend drop me and my equipment off in the woods and he left for home. That night a storm moved in with freezing rain. Normally I hammock camp. Luckily I had a tent with me that time. I was alone in the woods for a week. Within a few days the weather moderated and turned warm again. Great adventure.

  • for u weekend backpack what kind do you use?

  • i love survival and ultralight backpacking if you made this as a diy project can you make a tutorial foir it?

  • I love simple people, who aren't stabbing each other for crack. Thanks for existing Russell!

  • The thing is about the truckers hitch is that its not actually a slip knot. You dont want the knot to be able to be pulled out by tension. the best way I can describe how to tie it is to make a loop, then with your thumb in the bottom of the loop, bring your pinky under the line and make your loop that way. Also, you can close it off to with a clove hitch or two or three half hitches. It really is a great knot to know how to tie, and really work wonders for making sure things stay nice and tight

  • Excellent video.....I camp basically the same way you do....I prefer solo trips in the winter
