H.E.L.P.eR (Helpful Electronic Laboratory Partner Robot)

The name of the robot is H.E.L.P.eR (Helpful Electronic Laboratory Partner Robot). This robot's purpose is to guide itself through the city without any intervention. To navigate, H.E.L.P.eR uses the following sensors:ultrasound,light,color and a video camera. To know his position at any time the robot uses a red strip of paper positioned on the road as his landmark. When he arrives at a crossroad,first of all he checks for traffic lights and afterwards for traffic signs. If H.E.L.P.eR detected a traffic light: he stops at the red light and keeps going on the green one.The traffic signs are analysed with help of the video camera. H.E.L.P.eR recognizes the following traffic sign: STOP,Yield, Right Turn Only, Left Turn Only, Ahead and to the right only, Main Road. When the robot identifies a STOP or Yield sign he stops and let's the vehicles on the main road pass.
