http://160knots.com Landing runway 04 at Catalina's Airport in the Sky. Not often that we use runway 04 at Avalon. Many have asked about the Corona flood. My page with flood pictures can be found here.

  • Great video Frank... BTW how do you like the new Bose Headset !! Is it really worth an investment over my Bose X !!

  • @skyhawk180 I got it for the Bluetooth, so I could talk to clearance delivery on my cell phone. I was surprised how much better the noise canceling is that my other Bose headsets.

  • @CaptainArt777 I am sorry I did not do Catalina at least once when I was a private pilot but I am no longer active in flying.

  • Hey Frank, Love your videos but have a question. Even though you are much better looking then me, can we see a little more of the outside then of your good looking face? Happy Flying to you and your family. Peace Be With You.

  • @NICENAD Sir, you should go. Go with someone that has been there. I have flown to Cat. many, many times. It makes for an expensive lunch. You must have a lic to land there. No students allowed. The fog is way over rated. Fog is a cloud and if you seen them around Cat. then you know that you may have some limited visibility. In over 45y of flying here in So. Cal. I never had to abort. simple because I can see the weather from far out and just decide on a diff. lunch date. Please try it and enjoy

  • Frank, I am a former private pilot who flew out of KBUR and KVNY but I was never brave enough to land at Catalinas Airport in the sky because I heard it had a tough reputation for both landing and takeoffs but I regret now that I did not give a try.It is also weather tricky with extremes of visibility in short periods of time depending on depth of moist layer it can go from severe clear to extremely foggy in a short time interval and vice versa.

  • Great video as always of course. Didn't you state to the controller that you were out of Corona? And then he tried to make you look bad because he didn't hear you say your position....Of course he didn't hear you say your call sign initially either.

  • Well, everyone agrees your videos are great. May I suggest a new post daily? Ha! Your videos get me through periods of not being able to fly. Thanks.

  • Keep up the great work, as always I really appreciate you sharing your video's!

  • Busy day, looked like everyone went to Catalina that day...what was going on that attracted such a crowd? or is that just how it looks on a weekend?

  • @fholbert - Thanks Frank !! Bluetooth option sure is a neat feature to have and good to know that ANR is better in new headset. BTW Landing into RWY 04 sure looks like an interesting approach, given the hump and drop on the runway... 22 looked a lot easy :))
