(Jan 4, 2010) -- For episode 15, US Travel Editor of Lonely Planet Robert Reid hosts the 100th birthday party of the Manhattan Bridge -- with cake, plastic forks, oatmeal cookies, commemorative booklets and the debut of a Manhattan Bridge song by musician Beau Scott Jennings. The city had a party too, but held it (out of climatic convenience) in October -- two months before its actual 100th birthday: December 31, 2009.
The Manhattan Bridge is my favorite bridge. It carries 4 subway lines as well as 18 wheelers and double decker tour buses. It doesn't have the aesthetic appeal of the Brooklyn Bridge but it is a strong and sturdy bridge.

I'm glad you guys cae out and gave Manhattan Bridge some love, I wish I could have been there with you all. I'll get my chance later this year, I hope! She really is a beauty, with those lovely beax-art details and blue colouring. Shame about the graffitti, though. As for a song, look up the lyrics to the theme of "Princess Mononoke". Given her history, it suits her well.
