so it's SCA fighting except there are no telling blows? Each bout lasts till the clock-master says hold? Sounds exhausting!

Maybe I am wrong but it seems to me, when you take a blow and you just keep going, that you loose some of the skills and want to block.
Though as an S.C.A. fighter the continued combat video is really nice to watch and try to learn from.

MCA isn't SCA really, but it came from there. These guys have been doing SCA fighting for many years, perhaps even decades. A normal SCA sword weigh about the same as a typical 1-handed medieval sword, about 1-1.5 kg. Why they can strike so fast and hard is because they use technique that utilises the hip, shoulders and sometimes the entire body. Hits like these can cause palm sized deep bruises with a rattan sword, even though armor if it's not plate. Hence the plate.

You guys have some nice armor!!!

Nice! I'll be showing this around my training partners and see who I can get to do it with me :) I assume you guys are not counting hits, or are you trying to keep track? I'm also assuming at that level that you'll want better then average armor. Thanks for posting.
MCA fighting allows for a much more intense experience. Just like in history, you have to best the armour and the man inside. It's much more about skill, endurance and an overall fighter's mettle. It's not about scoring the first hit, worrying about taking shots or the crowd's perception.
You get so tired that you have to have a much deeper strategy to survive the fight. You have to decide when and where to expend your energy otherwise you will be exhausted before the fight is halfway over.
