This is a group documentary for National History Day 2009. There's a bit of a black screen at the end, because we had problems compressing it, and I think the voiceover still overlaps some with the interview, Anyway, hope you like it,

  • the current, modern scientist may not by default be morally responsible, but the title is implying the moral responsibility that *should* be attached to the job description. science and moral responsibility are not two mutually exclusive concepts.

  • we didnt even make it past our school's competition, but there were some stellar videos

  • Hey guys I know that not too many people are watching this, but we didn't make it to regionals for the competition...

  • We actually just used imovie. My friend photoshopped some of the pics-- you can't do that in imovie. Note (it took us a while to figure this out): when you want to pan across a pic (like we do for the graph) or pan and zoom, you go to the end of the clip, and drag the picture in the main screen.

  • Hey kittycarousel, thanks for the extra info on Oppenheimer. I didn't know that. But, you also have to understand our topic was Hans Bethe, so we spent most of our time researching him. If the documentary was about WWII we would have included more about the other scientists.

  • This title is a contradiction in terms. Science itself has demolished moral responsibility, and has replaced it with a genetic and biological determinism. So the scientist cannot be morally responsible.

  • Outstanding! I wish it were longer. Hans Bethe should be know by more people.

  • I just watched this again. It's beautiful. For all people involved, I'm the voice behind this documentary (aka narrator). "Shut up, the world's round" <3

  • How far did you make it?

  • Hans Bethe was a fantastic scientist. Really nice documentary, I always enjoy watching documentaries about great scientists.
