Richard Strauss
der Rosenkavalier, act II Finale

Anni Andrassy (Annina), Richard Mayr (Baron Ochs)
Bruno Walter, conductor

London, 18 may 1929
Columbia record L2340

Der Rosenkavalier was first performed in Dresden in 1911. During the music you can look at some pictures of the Semperoper Dresden. These are postcards and some photos I took during a visit to Dresden in 2006.

The building was built in 1871-1878. Destroyed by bombs in the night of 13/14 February 1945. It was left as a ruin for more than 30 years. from 1977 rebuilding to Semper's plans with slight alterations. Re-opened in 1985.

  • A marvelous souvenir of the legendary 1924 Covent Garden production that Walter led, with Richard Mayr as the Baron, Lotte Lehmann as the Marschallin, Elisabeth Schumann as Sophie and Delia Reinhardt as Oktavian!

  • I am really impressed with pictures of Dresden as well as Richard Mayr.

  • Strauss's favorite Ochs. Perfect diction, tonality & funny as a cack!
