obama isn't a socialist. the FOUNDATION of socialism is workers control over the means of production. in fact that is the foundation of marxism specifically. "spread the wealth" is a phrase that came from lenin. marxist economics doesn't punish hardwork. in fact if you actually READ karl marx you would know what he thinks about labor. MARX isn't a leninist or a stalinist. and obama is so far from socialist its pathetic.

I'm a socialist, I wish Obama was too. Guys, you're so far off the mark on Obama it's really not funny. Obama just handed 1.5 trillion over to private banks, large unaccountable private corporations. Far from socialism, if anything he's part of the oligarchy of undemocratic corporations that run America. Freedom? Not with corporate rulers, you're far from free and it's absurd that you want to keep it that way by sticking with the neo-classical economics that maintains that situation.

long-term i don't see how benefits would accrue to the working class under a socialist system because it is highly manipulate and manipulation breed corruption and that often benefits the top...ie look at the the financial firm & fannie & freddie.

These wild accusations of Obama being a socialist are rediculous. A large Majority of socialists of all sorts have a heavy dislike for Obama as he supports free market economics, opposses socialist systems from Leninism to Anarcho Communism and supports capitalism. Marx would hate him, Trotsky would hate him, Eugene Debs would hate him. If anything its that the american working class should NOT vote for either the Democratic or Republican parties and instead for a Socialist party.
