NASA: Arctic Sea Ice GONE by Summer 2012

It is projected (NASA satellite images) that most of the Arctic sea ice will be gone by summer 2012. This ice reflects (did reflect) 80% of the suns heat to keep our planet Earth's currents (temperatures) in balance. The primary poisonous "GAS" she is speaking of is Methane (greenhouse gas) that is now known to be 300 times more destructive than CO2.

MAD (meat and dairy) consumption is the primary source of earth's surface Methane. As our planet heats up the VAST amounts of Methane contained in our oceans will be released. - Mother Nature is telling us that we will be Vegan or we will no longer be!

Dr. Hansen works as the Director of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, where he is leading the research on the planet's atmosphere and global climatic change. For anyone who thinks this short time-line is extreme, please note: At the beginning of our industrial age Rainforests covered 14% of our planet's surface, and in 2004 the estimate was less than 6%, declining at a rate of 30-50+ million acres a year! Since the 1970's 90+% of Amazon Rainforest deforestation has been, and still is, from meat and dairy (MAD) consumption. At our current rate of MAD consumption - palm oil is a contributor, but not as much as the ECO-Hype for donation dollars wants you to believe - the Indonesian Rainforest will be gone within 10-15 years!

Yes, you are correct, yet we can control our own behavior by not participating, and ultimately that is what will create change. If we did not consume (demand) meat and dairy, they would stop supplying. I agree we should stop the monetary system, yet, first we have to change and educate ourselves and sadly that is what most will not do.

The physics of the temperature of Arctic sea water does not support your assumptions. Ice is an insulator and when removed, the Arctic waters release heat at a faster rate and actually chill down only to refreeze at 28.4 deg F (-2.0 deg C).

What exactly is the skill or product that you create that would be in such high demand that you would be able to live off it by bartering? Will you live in a tent made of only non-manufactured natural materials, such as in caves or branches tied together with grass? What will you use for clothing? Who will make it and from what? There could be no computers, no pooling of resources for scientific discovery. Get educated

Last time the pole melted fully, which it has in the past, the frozen methane hydrate from under the perma frost at bottom of artic ocean gets released into atmosphere, 90% of life on earth died. No air to breathe suddenly, you will have 3 min to live, unless you have a bunch of o2 tanks and scuba mask handy, and how many tanks could you have anyway.

If the monetary system is stopped we will just revert back to direct trading, which will be so complicated that theres no chance that it can ever happen. Just a bad thing to wish for.

We need to get past this notion of money, and stop living in a monetary system. That is the only way we will all work towards taking care of this environment. As long as we live with money, we will disregard the environment in order to make a "profit", whatever the hell that means.
