I found this by minimizing VLC while playing a video, and then my wallpaper started acting strange. It's very cool though.

  • ive seen this people use this to set video as thier background! the coulor where the video gets through, they cover the screen with it(0,0,1 rgb) so it comes through and looks like a movie background! no crap!

  • I hadn't yet figured that out at the time. It appears this color is a colorkey used to display the DirectX 2d video. Whether minimized or not, DirectX-mode VLC will display the video when this colorkey is present.

Unbeknownst to me at the time, VLC actually has a video wallpaper feature that takes advantage of this DirectX design "flaw."

  • RealPlayer and Nero ShowTime do this as well but they use RGB (16,0,16).

  • go your shit!

  • I have a very similary problem! I didn't know it was VLC causing it, but when I closed VLC everything went back to normal. Very weird.
