"The Last Conquistador" is an hour-long documentary film about the construction and dedication of the largest bronze equestrian statue ever created, a controversial monument nearly five stories tall depicting the Spanish conquistador Juan de Oñate. It is also a film about Native and Mexican Americans who are opposed to the statue. To them it is an offensive and profane memorial to white supremacy and genocide.
A co-production of Independent Television Service (ITVS). A co-presentation of POV, Native American Public Telecommunications and KERA Dallas/Fort Worth.

he was the greatest conquer and yet commited the one of the most brutal genocides in human history. light always has dark side. shadow can't exist without bright light... same with alexander, genghis khan and other great conquers. we must remember there were people who were conquered by those great conqueres, and to them they were not conquers but great evils.
