How does he stay so close to the ground at :30?

Use the drift button (B/R) while you're climbing the yellow trick ramp. Requires speed (MT+wheelie just before) and timing otherwise you'll fall into the lava.

I try to do this, but it doesn´t result me that fast like him.

Wait a bit before choosing your drift direction.

Push on the drift button (B or R depending on your controller), then WAIT until the character has almost finished the little hop and then at this moment turn left or right.

if you do the shortcut you must make a sharp turn.

that's easier and faster to do with a mach bike.

do what mindscarp says. it makes quicker mini turbos. its also known as "delayed MT's". this technique is also used with daisy on N64 Bowser's Castle.
