also the other thing that people over look is the fact that most are designed so water doesnt bother them as you are always draging wet clothes from them

im australian too! Yea its a bit different when you go from Australia, with too much spare space to Japan, which I must say is awesome too though!

I can't imagine cooking on that plate using oil. It's just asking for a mess with the carpet and bed next to it. Your kitchen still seems big enough to put the plate somewhere next to the sink.

Apple Yogurt that is wierd. Why would someone put a washer outside their apartment and what happens when it rains? Will your machine get wet and short out? So do you get pizza delivered?

I thought the same thing about the washer when I moved in, but never had any problems when it got wet...despite some pretty torrential rain/snow. It was outside because there is literally no room to have it inside. This was a really cheap apartment only 30 000 yen per month. I don't live in this apartment anymore so don't get any pizza delivered ;)
