  • And then, two more dictionaries came along: One is white and lavender, the other's bright yellow and deep red. Both were founded by a chicken.

  • @misssupernova Yes.

  • @BigDogJang0 The "gh" sound was actually pronounced differently before it's more conventional use in modern English. Words like cough, laugh, enough, and brought are all synonymous with their German and Dutch cognates where the spelling and etymology is very similar. Enough (Ger = Genug); Laugh (Ger = Lach); Brought; (Ger = Bracht); etc. ;) And words that use "ph" are generally words absorbed from Greek or Latin into the Germanic languages.
