Awhile ago I uploaded Buck Owens "Together Again" and here's yet another B.O. track out of his long list of country hits, an instru version of "Cryin' Time". Now, this has a rather interesting story behind it. I recorded it in the mid-'60s, using a 'palette' of different guitar sounds throughout, PLUS an accordeon for the intro, as well as close to the end! There's even a short bit of WHISTLING in there! And if that wasn't enough, I used a cardboard box as a bass drum (!!), hitting it with a drum stick held in my right hand, while I was using another drum stick in my left hand and hitting the rim of my old Lefima snare drum to keep the moderate pace of the track going. As for a rhythm guitar I used my mid-'60s Kay flattop and all the electric guitar parts is handled by my old Hagström 'plank'. And everything was recorded on my Tandberg model 64 in my parents makeshift garage. Those where indeed the days of invention and creativity, LOOL!! Enjoy...
CRYIN' TIME
Oh, it's cryin' time again, your gonna leave me,
I can see that far away look in your eyes,
I can tell by the way you hold me, darling,
That it won't be long before it's cryin' time,
Now they say that absence
Makes the heart grow fonder,
And that tears are only rain to make love grow,
Well my love for you could never grow no stronger,
If I live to be a hundred years old,
So, it's cryin' time again, your gonna leave me,
I can see that far away look in your eyes,
I can tell by the way you hold me, darling,
That it won't be long before it's cryin' time,
Now you say that you've found someone you love better,
That's the way it's happened every time before,
And as sure as the sun comes up tomorrow,
Cryin' time will start when you walk out the door,
Oh, it's cryin' time again, your gonna leave me,
I can see that far away look in your eyes,
I can tell by the way you hold me, darling,
That it won't be long before it's cryin' time...
Thanks a lot Irina for your always heart felt and emotional comments, straight from the soul! The tune is indeed quite 'sad and heartbreaking' and I knew you would understand it! Sorry to admit it though, but all the instruments involved here are long gone and frankly speaking I don't miss anyone of them compared to what I have today! Hope that doesn't make you sad? If I may brag some, I agree with you that this tune is quite awesome, considering how it was recorded!

Hey J.T.! Thanks for the comment!! Fact of the matter though is that I only used TWO guitars throughout the entire track, plus a short intro/outro on accordion for variety (pretty miserable, as I hadn't touched that ole Hagström Granesso for AGES!). But in case you refer to the cardboard box as an 'instrument', I'm pretty satisfied with that performance! In fact, I made several tracks at the time using the exact same set-up and it always worked! Thanks buddy!!
