The B-Boys on the film 'The Freshest Kids' never said anything about Capoeira or anything African when they were asked about where breakdancing came from. I think that conclusion was drawn independently from B-Boy culture more than likely from some historian who wanted to make a scholarly conclusion without really studying Hip Hop Culture properly.

Afrika Bambata (One Of The fathers Of Hip Hop) took a trip to Brazil in the 70's & saw this Martial arts & Other members of his movement (Zulu) called Rock Steady kept it alive in AMerika & it became known as Break Dancing.
