If God exists, I'm sure he listens exclusively to doom metal (especially Black Sabbath, Trouble, Pentagram, and St. Vitus) and Motorhead.

It's Doom. Slow, dreary stonery Metal. It being in the 70s has nothing to do with it's genre. Compare Black Sabbath and The Who. See the difference? Pentagram being in the same league as Black Sabbath.
