Thanks Mike, I just picked up a Recording Custom kit and love it, im using the Pearl Donati snare drum...(which Im still trying to figure out if i like it)
Your lesson on linear time has become a regular part of my practice routine. I must admit I find it tough to count the 3,5,8 groove, and i end up falling into the 16th note 1e&a etc. count... it works but it just ends up sounding too "robotic". Any thoughts on that?

Recording custom - very nice - I'm sure they sound great. If counting 1e&a works, fine, do that. counting 3,5,8 was easier for me because with this system "Gary's Syster" you're always statring with the right hand. so 3,5,8 would be RLF, RLRLF, RLRLff. The second R (first in the second set) is on the uh of 1. We're not used to playing the right hand there. so counting 3,5,8 starting eash phrase with the right hand seems easy; however, the ultimate goal is to count naturally, 1e&a. Mike
