Ok man you are awesome, i play this song on guitar but fuck dude you make it look easy, i dunno what pedals your using and i've never heard of your amp name but i love the sound out of it on your videos, and FYI you picked the best of all my fav songs for tabs!

hmm, on the origonal metallica version, they use bends on the intro instead of hamers, i prefer the bends but i soppose everyone to their own lol =D

Where have you seen them only use bends? On the original recording it's definitely a grace note hammer then vibrato back on the starting note and looking on youtube they seem to be playing the same thing from way back in the Cliff days up to the present.

It's an Ibanez Jem 7VSBL, Steve Vai sig model, the handle is called the 'Monkey Grip' :D.
