What magnificent choral writing, and very beautifully sung too!
-
This is one of Handel's most beautiful atmospheric choruses.

There are wonderful Turkish Operas. They are mostly in modern shape. A.Adnan Saygun is a great example. They are blended in rich turkish music and culture that reaches from Istanbul to East. If you are interested I can post some of them with subtitles, and brief summary.

There are Turkish operas actually! You should check out republic era composers such as Cemal Reşit Rey or Ahmet Adnan Saygun, they both have operas but not here on you tube
-
Wow, what a difference to Ivor Bolton. Who is the conductor?
-
Yah, but this is an Italian opera! I wonder if there are any Turkish operas (doubt it).

Chaghatay Turkish, as was the language the real Tamerlane spoke
-
So, what language did you expect Tamerlano to sing in?

Wonderful costumes inspired by miniatures from the timuridic and early ottoman period. Also the aria is declamated in a real sublime and almost perfect stile. A real pleasure for eyes and ears!
what a stupid comment!
