For anyone who doesnt already know or who hasnt watched any of my videos...
My son was born 6 weeks prem by emergency c-section due to Congenital Cytomegalovirus which nealry took his life (doctors never expected him to live). He spent 2 weeks in NICU and 6 in SCBU. We were told he'd have CP, Autism, Developmental Delays, Mental Retardation, etc.
Well, turns out they've all been wrong, hes a happy healthy baby and is hitting all his milestones.
Congenital CMV caused bilateral hearing loss which he wears hearing aids for.
A common occurance with hearing impaired children is Sensory Integration. This basically means they have issues with textures. Kaiden has NEVER eaten anything other than grocery bought jar baby food since we started him on solids.
Today, January 12, 2009 Kaiden took a piece of food (a chip from KFC) from his father, Christian and put it straight to his mouth!!! As if that wasnt good enough, he then proceeded to EAT IT!!! He ate about 3 chips in total (what you see on the floor is all that was left over!!!).
You can imagine how, as a parent, after all the months and all the tries- to see my son do it (and do it on his own nonetheless...), gives me an amazing, overwhelming feeling of pride!!!
=D happy for you praise God

Sorry but we are NOT religious and definately do NOT believe in "god"- the only people responsable for my sons life and his development are the doctors who saved his life and us, the parents who continue to help him learn and grow everyday.
Thanks for watching tho.

LOL Thanks, its been such a bugger trying to get him to eat food like "normal" babies and then out of the blue he just goes and does it all on his own!!! Little brat! The Sensory Integration means that he wont willingly pick up a piece of food and put it instinctively to his mouth- hes never been a baby that "mouths" things although its just now starting to emerge, hes 18 months so hes doin it late :P

He's happy and healthy and has a great mom! In the grand scheme of things that is more important than learning late!!! Good for him though!

Well thats how i see it, just because hes not doin it right wen som book or som doctor says he should, doesnt make him different or whatever. He DOES do it all, he just does it in his own time. You can just tell with his personality- he does things when HES good and ready and not before. Its not that he cant do it, he just doesnt do it unless hes ready. I think thats a good quality personally... I love my son more than life and im proud to be his Mum no matter what.
