A game produced by E. Hashimoto, who also made games like "Akuji the Demon" and "The Guardian of Paradise", has developed a title known as "Buster", a game which is loosely based on (but largely reimagined) the Sharp X68000 game of the same name, which is unsurprising since E. Hashimoto was also involved with its creation.

The game combines pure simplicity with a beautiful old-school vibe and animated presentation. Your hero runs around slicing enemies with blades on his arms that act as fangs which can also be used to hang from cliffs. You restore health by gathering mana and can gain more by constantly moving and defeating enemies without collecting all available mana, which increases their value. The game isn't as sophisticated as previous efforts like Akuji, but the game certainly excels in the visual department with wonderful details and loads of color abound. It also has a noteworthy soundtrack in a classic sort of way. This video shows the first level. Enjoy.

  • Do you know where to download this?

  • i meant to ask, is this game available yet, it looks like something that should be on my DS xD

    Would love to play this.

  • Beautiful art and really tight looking programming. Reminds me of a Treasure game in how it effectively supplements sometimes limited (but gorgeous) animations with particles, rotation, and transparency. Would never have known about it without this channel!

  • That guy has a more or less Scribblenauts-style grpahically. =p
