  • @Booger6995 And I really am envious too!!! What a machine.

  • @catchreboot It's not the KB. It's the notes being played.

  • Ever notice how the PWM sounds different on every synth? This one has SMOOTH PWM.... mmm

  • Didn't Yamaha actually have a special set of speakers for this one? In the manual for the CS, it says to use their high-response PAs.

  • Wonder why they didn't use card connectors back then. Reliability? Would be interesting to know what was wrong and needed to be fixed.

  • I recently bought a very nice Kontakt sample library of this machine off of eBay. It came from NYC. Is this the CS-80 it was sampled from? It would be very cool to see the actual synth.

  • This synth has most excellent bass if the amp and speakers can do it.

  • Have you deal with the IG0015x chips? Did you find any source of them? Please, any tip will be welcome :)

  • Wow, I'm blown away by this. What an incredible machine.

  • fabulous.

  • Holy Cow...I have never seen a CS80 from inside. That is truly insane.

  • ...but very good demo , thank you

  • What an astounding, gorgeous, utterly insane piece of technology.

  • How about cleaning it as well.....;c) Sorry...!

  • @GR8TM4N

Actually that's 70s technology right there...

  • 80s technology :)

  • @bealtown The surface area of PCB is actually immense (about 1200 total square inches) if all 41 were arranged as tiles. The wiring just pushes it over the top to complete insanity. Well over 200+ voltage controlled amplifiers and I stopped counting trim pots as their numbers approached 1000 (one thousand)....

  • All those lines, hanks of 'em. So little PCB.What did they pay people in Japan back then? As a tube amp buff, I appreciate the robust hand-wired circuitry... but I feel sorry for any techs working on such a machine!
