It sounds similar to a 'guqin' (a chinese zither instrument), really nice stuff.

You should do some more research on the oud my friend, even just look around more on youtube. The oud does not belong just to one country, and has been around in one form or another for thousands of years throughout the Eastern Mediterranean region, and spread even to Europe leading to the European lutes and guitars.
This is one of the most important and beautiful aspects of Near Eastern culture - it's shared, and it's wonderfully complicated - with regional 'dialects' and styles that differ.

i know its shared but the instrument itself originated from egypt, no?

It's probable that the oud or an instrument very close to it originated from Ancient Egypt or Ancient Mesopotamia 7,000-10,000 years ago, since as far as I know the oldest instruments that have been found or depicted in art were there from that time period.
The more contemporary version of the oud we know today is tied more with the areas we associate with Iran and Iraq. From there it spread to neighboring countries/cultures.
Honestly, what does this have to do with the clip posted here?
