YouMove: Si LengLeng

UP Dilimans Raffy Cañete and Sheng Peteros produced a storybook for children ages 10 to 12 years old for the program YouMove: Filipino Youth & Migration.

The book tells the story of Leng-Leng, a girl who is inspired by the main character in the soap opera to become a nurse someday. She also thinks of going abroad so she could support her poor family. Events in the story led her to meet a nurse at a hospital who happens to look like the character in the soap opera. She is inspired that the nurse has chosen to practice her profession in the country instead. The story ends with the girl reflecting on her own dream.

This was produced through a workshop spearheaded by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and Probe Media Foundation, Inc. (PMFI). Dubbed as YouMove: Filipino Youth & Migration, the programme provided opportunities for students in communication-related courses to increase their awareness and understanding of migration (regular and irregular) and produce creative outputs that focused on their chosen subjects.
