"It looks like this Administration would now like to keep us from getting embarrassing information about them, because they don't like this bill. 'We have to give too many reports to Congress...there has to be too much transparency...it's burdensome to have to be open about these contracts.' But the fact of the matter is, we are spending an incredible amount of money on these outside contracts. And from what we have seen, our taxpayers are not being protected from waste, fraud, abuse and corruption."

  • Wonder why he didnt raise a stink over the pork in the current Iraq war bill, like:

$50 million for "asbestos abatement and other improvements" in the U.S. Capitol.

$74 million for "storage, handling, and other associated costs for the 2007 crop of peanuts".

$284 million for payments to dairy and spinach farmers.

  • These guys think they're so ethically pure and righteous it makes my skin crawl. 33 year public servant? He produces nothing but more laws which we all must live under.

  • yea theres alot of slime in congress but theres far more credible politicians on ou side of the isle then on the far right. Ron Pauls the only republican I like and he's actually a liberterian. We had a surplus befor Bush stole the election and permitted 911 and Lied us into war.

  • Does this guy remember Clinton giving Haliburton contracts for the reason of "there the only ones who can..."

  • Superficial? Wake up and stop smoking the dope, californiaman. The voters in California are completely out to lunch. They awaken from their stupor, vote and then go back into a coma. Involvement in politics isn't voting for the same dullard 30 plus years in a row. The people of CA have very, very low expectations.

  • Dude, 40+ years of corruption, well-honed to an artform. Stop seeing the world through your blue-tinted hippy shades and realize that your homies are just as slimey.

  • I'm glad the voters in California aren't as superficial and vain as you appear to be. It is petty to attack Waxman in the way that you did.

  • Drudging up ABSCAM, is that all you have. I have never seen an administration more flooded with Fraud Waste and Abuse than this one, and you drudge up ABSCAM. Politicians are sirty on both sides, but the Bush admin is under target now.

  • This guy has been in Congress for over 33 years, the epitome of career politician. The people of his district must have hugely low expectations because this guy is increidbly boring and inept. I suspect that he must help everyone feel pretty good about themselves noting, "If waxman can be in public I must look pretty good."

  • If anybody know about waste, fraud and abuse is the democrats. Having ruled the house for over 40 years and fathered ABSCAM, the house banking scandal, The post office cash affair and countless other acts of graft and greed, these guys pretty much wrote the book. Waxboy knows his stuff.
